It’d been years since I had had fried mozzarella, and when I ordered some at the Time Out Tavern, I couldn’t resist. Washed it down with some happy hour suds, then tackled one of their Philly Cheese Steaks. OMG. My one-and-only loved the atmosphere and her food, too. I’d suggest that you take time out for the Time Out Tavern. Good stuff!

La Brujao

I tend to visit this liquor store daily. No, I'm not that much of a alcoholic, they have stuff other than booze. Actually, they have these handmade sweet plantain chips (¢250) that are awesome. Basically, La Brujao is a convenience store with booze. They have great prices and the staff is friendly. Parking can be rough here, as you pretty much have to back out on to the main road when exiting. This is a great store for quick (in and out) purchases.

Snoopy Bar

Call: 2289-4518 | Address: Escazu center on par with the Red Cross
I use to live just around the corner from Bar Snoopy. So, needless to say, I use to visit them frequently. Unlike the previous reviewer, I've never had any problems with the bar staff trying to over charge me. But, I have had good times with cheap drinks, eats and great conversations. I'll be back in the hood on Thursday and plan on paying a visit to ole Snoop.

La Casona de Laly

Call: 2288-5807 | Address: 200 meters north of the northeast corner of the Church of Escazu
La Casona de Laly is one of my favorite restaurants in Escazu. You can always expect great food and at great prices. The menu has a bit of something for everyone. Their casados are great, and they have the best arroz con pollo. Most of the dishes are less than $5. Service is sometimes a bit slow but you will over look that when you get your food.

Los Antojitos

Call: 2289-9700 | Address: Old road to Santa Ana in front of Plaza Colonial
I was roaming around Escazu looking for a place to get some food on Christmas day. I've passed by Los Antojitos many times but had not tried them before. They were open today, so I decided to stop. Los Antojitos is a "Mexican" restaurant with a large menu of items you would expect to see and some you would not. I settled on the Super Taco which was actually more like a Chimichanga. It was good and was served with refried black beans and french fires. The beans weren't very good at all. The service did not come with a

Hiper Mas

We drive to Escazu almost every weekend, just to go to Hiper Mas. They have pretty much everything we need to stock our pantry and more. The other commenter mentioned that there are "huge crowds", but I've found that it depends on what day and time you go. We can usually, get in and out really quickly. If only the had another location a little closer to us.

I recently had to get some business cards printed in a hurry. I looked online and found Sublime Graphics. Turns out they're just down the road from my apartment. So, I uploaded my files to their server (web site) and went to their office. Met with Chris and discussed my needs. They said they would send me a quote and told me to come back the following Tuesday to view the sample and we would go from there. They gave me what I needed in a timely fashion. I highly recommend Sublime Graphics for any of your printing needs. They're

Fresh Market

Address: Centro Commercial Paco shopping mall, next to Il Panino restaurant
I stopped by the Fresh market the other day to pick up a couple of things. This is a great little gourmet grocery store that doesn't have everything you need, but it does have the essentials. Fresh Market has a great bakery and deli counter and a decent selection of prepared foods. Prices are what you would expect of a gourmet grocery, kinda high.

Auto Mercado

Call: 2588-1742 | Address: In the Atlantis Plaza shopping center, upp the hill from Scotia Bank
Seem like I always end up at the Auto Mercado for my groceries. I try to hit up some of the lesser priced stores but it's always like herding cattle. They're to busy. The Auto Mercado has a great selection, with wide aisles and enough check out lanes to speed me through. The downside is that they're a bit more expensive than the other grocery stores. They also have one of the better wine selections, if you're into that sort of thing.

The Pub

Call: 2288-3062 | Address: 25 meters west of Toyco, Escazu Centro 524-1000
There’s a fun local spot called The Pub that’s a relatively small place, but big on hospitality and good get-you-by food that’s a hit with local Gringos and Ticos, alike. It’s owned by Gary and his wife, Nadeene, who have not only continued the tradition of this local pub, but enhanced it with a varied selection of menu munchies that tempt the palate. Especially, their Fish & Chips - a featured menu item every Thursday. Rating: 4
